Wednesday work…

Simple site survey….with a stopover up near Raleigh to pick up some 502 insulators from Jack, W0UCE.  Ya gotta like it when after greeting you at the door, the host immediately says, “Let me show you the shack!”  I hadn’t been there 10 seconds & were walking into the shack, talking hamming, et cetera.  I think this is a long-time-licensee approach to radio. K8MFO made me feel the same way the first time I visited his home. After shaking hands, we were suddenly in his backyard looking at the towers & antennas & talking radio. As I say, “Gotta love it….”

Today’s site survey on hold. The folks at WCIS want me to also do lots of mods to their tower & antenna system, which I’m really not qualified to do. So now the local ham club is afloat again looking for someone to install their new repeater system antenna & coax. I’m just a ham installation guy–not a commercial installer. Hopefully, they figure it all out.

The WX looks interesting, that’s for sure. Hurricane Irene heading up the Eastern seaboard, certainly capable of causing large scale damage. People always tell me I’ll get lots of calls for repairs etc. after such a storm, but W2GD & I agree, that’s never happened to either one of us!

stay tuned
