After the wild weekend at W3LPL (36M points in M-M, only to find perennial challenger K3LR with 38M~!), headed over to K1DQV’s on Monday morning. The splice bolts in the mast were once again slipping, so installed a large plate & clamp across the joint, then leaned into the ratchet. No apparent slipping, despite the wind blowing fairly well, so fingers crossed this time around…
Then headed down, over, & across MD into VA, to K4FJ’s King George, VA home. Steve is a long time client, having met him way back when, when he was working with W3GRF, doing tower work. Anyhow, his TIC Ring wasn’t functioning, so it was a simple motor swapout. All appears to be okay, although there is a bit of jump at the ring splices (which is very, very common on the TICs). Easily correctable in the shack if alignment goes awry.
Then headed home, another six or seven hours.
Tuesday down at NE3Z’s in Chester, SC, trying to wrap up his new tower base. Hopefully we can finish that today…
stay tuned
