Dear Reader:
There MUST be readers out there, despite the holiday season, despite my absence from the blogging world, despite my not showing up on your doorstep to perform some magical tower work, despite the weather forecaster’s warnings, et cetera, ad nauseum….
Herewith, some news, both radio & personal related: On the radio side of things, KI4TZ & I managed to get some time in at K4ATX’s yesterday, where we finished assembling his SteppIR DB-18. We also got the Tilt-Plate on the tower. Did not get them mated, as it began raining, plus…I had to be at the hospital by 3PM to pick up the XYL & move her to the rehab facility. Literally across the street. Seems like it would have been easier to toss a blanket over her & push a wheelchair, but who am I go suggest logic when it comes to the practice of medicine? Anyhow, the folks there (Mercy Hospital) are saying she’ll be working there for a week to 10 days, & then home. Her pneumonia & the blood clot in her lung seem to be almost gone, which is all very good news, indeed.
Joe & I will go back to K4ATX’s tomorrow, to install the antenna, dress the cables (it’s an LM-470 crank up), then prep things for later trenching of the Heliax from the shack. Then it’ll be, like, Christmas, almost. Immediately after that (when normal people celebrate, open presents, & generally have a good time), we’ll make a mad dash up to Blacksburg, VA, to dismantle NI1N’s station (Tom bought a house & needs his stuff moved). Then there are jobs which have been hanging fire in mid-MO, Ohio, & so on & so on. Be patient guys, I have NOT forgotten any of you. Of course it’ll likely be blizzard conditions there when some time is finally freed up. As I like to say:
stay tuned….
