Drove to Raleigh this morning, delivering tower sections to N3ND’s new QTH. Oddly enough, the little Garmin GPS took me to the wrong location! Turns out, there are TWO (yes, 2) Wake Forests in the State of NC, and I found myself at the wrong one. The exact same street address (it’s now an almost-empty lot, with a building under construction), but the wrong place. Lucky for me, W0UCE, Dan’s long-time friend, was able to give me some directions and I found the right address about 30 minutes later. Weird stuff.
Then I finally got over to pick up a reel of EHS which I purchased a couple years back from W0UCE, who’d left it at his old house (since bought by another ham). Then, while driving down to W6NWS’s place, to retrieve a C-3 I purchased from Larry, I was struck by a USPS delivery truck! He pulled out without looking. His front bumper smacked the right side trailer tire, bumping the trailer into the left lane, where luckily there was no other traffic. That jolt jerked the truck around a bit, too. I got stopped and the USPS truck was speeding away. Normally I don’t resort to obscene gestures or tantrums, but I certainly hope he saw my middle finger raised as I stood there in the highway! I noticed when I got home that the wheel bearing on that side of the trailer is now loose.
Hey, shit happens, huh? That’s why they’ve got that bumper sticker, as I often say.
stay tuned…
