After a frustrating Monday being unable to resolve (meaning successfully tune) W7WZ’s F-12 shorty forty, I headed over to K4MQG’s, where I at least managed to pin the prop pitch so the 80/40 beams would stop spinning in the wind. By that afternoon, I was feeling pretty poorly, although I was not prepared for what was to come. Tuesday dawned with me totally congested, with both head and chest fluid-filled. Wednesday dawned worse, with both eyes swollen shut. That afternoon, I managed to shoehorn in an appointment with the family doctor. A shot, some oral antibiotics, and lots of half-assed rest (I find it impossible to sleep in this condtion), I feel somewhat better, with my left eye open at least.
Plans to go to N VA for work this week obviously didn’t come to fruition. But I’m hoping by next week’s planned return trip to W IL, and then down to TN, I’ll be back to 100%. Looking at the weather out there, I’m sure that’s going to be fun. This bug might not have caught me if I’d been home to take advantage of the free flu shot at the University, but I was on the road someplace…as usual.
One bit of good news, W7WZ says F-12 is sending new aluminum (there are several dimensional erros in the tubing as-supplied) for the Yagi.
stay tuned
