LAST WEEK…WHAT A WEEK IT WAS…

The proposed things seemed/sounded so simple: go to Ohio, with the first stop in Athens, to help old college professor pal celebrate his 70th birthday, then head further North to tower work jobs. While the birthday stopover went okay (except for it being Parents’ Weekend at Ohio University & being forced to overnight at the new Hampton Inn for $170/night, ouch!), the 2nd leg of the trip hit some snags right off.
First, I stopped to pick up some long-ago-purchased EHS, but the seller had not yet left it outside where I could retrieve it & wasn’t home. Then, after finally getting to N8GP’s place, the WX turned bad. Cold, & lots of white, puffy things falling from the sky, which made for a wet, wet workday. Finally got that finished & headed over to K3CR station, in State College, PA. Where it was (wait for it), EVEN COLDER, with high winds, too. W2GD & I struggled with the 40M OWA but getting it moved out of the way & allowing us to take down the broken TIC Ring, simply wouldn’t happen for us, despite the old college try. After four hours aloft, we were frozen, shivering & realized we couldn’t get it done. Next trip…

Finally home Saturday night. Arrival coincided with what the WX folks are terming an “Artic blast,” of below freezing temperatures & high winds.

Next week, back to SC client’s work.

stay tuned…
