KZ5ED’s cubical quad has been hanging atop his tower for almost five years, literally dangling from the Phillystran trusses. The plan was to climb up & attach slings to the various ‘n sundry pieces, to be lowered by crane. Alas, the Hazer would not allow me to climb past it and reach the broken stuff. So…we decided to simply lower the entire tower. I put a basket choker around the broken mast and tower and down it all came, slick and easy, with nothing else damaged and no one hurt (always a good thing). Spent some time dismantling everything and then pulled the tower back up and in to position, again, without damage.
Eric wants to re-build the quad and I’ve already built him a stronger boom. Likely after Dayton and some local (NC/SC) jobs, we’ll get to that, and re-installing the quad. Hopefully without the Hazer…
